Course Outcome

 This series covers the basics (core) of Tungsten Inert-Gas Welding procedures and should be considered as the essential “starting point” for anyone who is required to perform TIG welding operations.

 4 Modules

The complete course consists of 4 video modules and 2 PDF manuals which include self-assessment

 Module 1

 At the end of this module the learner will be able to:

  •  Describe the principles of TIG process
  • Describe the equipment and consumables used
  • Describes types of welding currents
  • Describe necessary PPE and safety factors involved in TIG process

 Module 2

 At the end of this module the Learner will be able to:

 Describe purpose and function of:

  • Welding power source
  • TIG torch and electrodes
  • Shielding gas supply
  • Filler wire

 Module 3

 At the end of this module the Learner will be able to:

  •  Set up typical equipment in preparation for TIG process
  • Prepare shielding gas supply and flow rate
  • Prepare a TIG torch

 Module 4

 At the end of this module the Learner will be able to:

  •  Strike an arc using 3 methods
  • Run a fusion bead
  • Run a stringer bead
  • Weld a square butt-joint
  • Weld an inside and outside corner joint on stainless steel
  • Weld a lap joint on aluminium
