This series covers the basics (core) of Tungsten Inert-Gas Welding procedures and should be considered as the essential “starting point” for anyone who is required to perform TIG welding operations.

TIG 1

At the end of this module the learner will be able to:

• Describe the principles of TIG process.
• Describe the equipment and consumables used.
• Describes types of welding currents.
• Describe necessary PPE and safety factors involved in TIG process.

TIG 2

At the end of this module the Learner will be able to:

• Describe purpose and function of:
• Welding power source
• TIG torch and electrodes
• Shielding gas supply
• Filler wire

TIG 3

At the end of this module the Learner will be able to:
• Set up typical equipment in preparation for TIG process.
• Prepare shielding gas supply and flow rate
• Prepare a TIG torch.

TIG 4

At the end of this module the Learner will be able to:

• Strike an arc using 3 methods.
• Run a fusion bead
• Run a stringer bead
• Weld a square butt-joint
• Weld an inside and outside corner joint on stainless steel
• Weld a lap joint on aluminium
